Farm Life Spotlight: Perfect Chaos Ranch

Meet Kyle and Samantha Thompson – like a true farm love story, both were neighbors growing up on farms and got married at 20 and 21 years old. They had four children and thus sprouted Perfect Chaos Ranch. 

Here is their farm story...

“Our town has changed significantly since we were kids, both good and bad. There are many more conveniences available like more stores, restaurants, and shops but unfortunately, many farms have moved away. This has left us with a community not knowing how to do skills like gardening, raising your own food, etc. 

On the contrary, being a modern-day homesteader is so fulfilling and brings us a lot of joy. We get to teach our kids how to raise livestock, how to cook from scratch, and how to garden. We saw a need in our community to teach others as well, so we started a program called Free Range Farm School and we put on conferences called Health and Homesteading. We love doing workshops teaching people how to milk cows, how to bake sourdough bread, beekeeping, and more. It allows us to keep our farm running and we get to teach others how to do the same.

 Anyone can farm. We tell people whether you live in an apartment or 1,000 acres, there is always more to learn about how you can grow your own food more effectively. It’s one of those things you can never really master but it’s an art that takes patience, practice, and perseverance.”
